Ozil Eyes MLS, Fenerbahce Moves After Arsenal Exit

Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil is eyeing a move to United States Of America’s Major League Soccer or Turkish giants Fenerbahce when he brings down the curtain on his career in North London.

Ozil is expected to leave Arsenal in the current transfer window or later this summer when his contract expires.

The 32-year-old former Germany international, who is Arsenal’s highest earner, has not kicked a ball for the club since March 7 last year, having been excluded from their Premier League and Europa League squads for the first part of this season.

Ozil, who is of Turkish descent, has been strongly linked with Fenerbahce and the former Real Madrid playmaker has done little to quell rumors of an impending move to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium by declaring his admiration for the club.

The World Cup winner made his future intentions known during a question and answer session on Twitter.

“I definitely will,” he said when asked if he would play on after leaving Arsenal.

“There are two countries I want to play football in before I retire: Turkey and USA.

“If I went to Turkey, I could only go to Fenerbahce.”

“I grew up as a Fenerbahce fan as a kid in Germany,” he added. “Every German-Turkish person supports a Turkish team when they grow up in Germany. And mine was Fenerbahce.

“Fenerbahce is like Real Madrid in Spain. The biggest club in the country.”
