Gasperini Expects A Difficult Game Against Benevento

Atalanta will be facing Benevento in Serie A at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito on Saturday and head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is wary of Filippo Inzaghi’s side’s potential danger.

La Dea have been in fine form of late, having been unbeaten in their last six Serie A games but Gasperini expects nothing but a ‘complicated’ match against an impressive side.

Despite enjoying a run of good form in recent weeks, Atalanta still sit seventh on the league table with 28 points, only seven points ahead of newcomers Benevento, who sit tenth.

Gasperini says it will be a competitive season and there will be more surprises in the Italian league.

“It will be a complicated match,” Gasperini said at a press conference. “Benevento have won six games and that’s many for a newly promoted side.

“They are having a good championship and on Sunday there were many surprising results at the top, there’s a battle and balance in all areas of the table.

“I don’t think the home factor counts anymore, in the current state of affairs.”

Gasperini also praised the level in Serie A, citing example with recent matches and said it’s hard to ‘maintain continuity’.

“At the moment there are many good matches,” he said. “Milan-Juventus was a high-quality match.

“Roma and Naples also express excellent football, as well as Verona and Benevento.

“In this historical moment, it’s not easy to maintain continuity.
