Klopp Bemoans Fixture Congestion After Fulham Stalemate

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hit out at the lack of protection for players following a 1-1 draw against Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Klopp believes the congested fixture is taking its toll on footballers as many of his first team members are on the treatment table.

Liverpool passed up the chance to go top of the Premier League table and were fortunate to have secured a point at Craven Cottage after putting up a pedestrian performance against Scott Parker’s men.

The hosts had a bright start and could have scored in the opening minutes of the game, but nonetheless got a deserved lead through Bobby Decordova-Reid's blast on 25 minutes.

The Cottagers kept Liverpool at bay for the vast majority of the game despite the Reds having the lion’s share of possession.

Klopp’s men battled back after the break and got their equalizer when Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot ten minutes to full-time to salvage a point for the Premier League champions.

"In the first 30 minutes we were just not good. We could have lost the game in that period. After half an hour it was already better. The second half was good. We could have had more [goals],” Klopp said after the final whistle.

He added: "We are dealing with human beings and things like this happen. On Saturday all the teams that played in the Champions League had a tough one. It's crazy. Maybe this was the weekend we felt it a little bit.
