Solskjaer Hails Manchester United ‘Character And Belief’ In West Ham Comeback

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed his team’s character and belief following a 3-1 win over West Ham United on Saturday.

The Red Devils conjured another stunning second-half comeback to condemn West Ham to their first defeat in four games.

Manchester United were stunned on the 38th minute mark when Tomas Soucek put the hosts ahead but a spirited second half performance saw them score three goals through Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.

Speaking to the media after the game, Solskjaer reflected on his men’s victory and insists it is no coincidence Manchester United keep performing away from home.

"You have a duty to be ready when you are called upon. Bruno [Fernandes] and Marcus [Rashford] came on and did well. First half we had loads of possession but we didn't go anywhere with the ball. Second half we stretched them more and ran in behind. The quality was much better, The goals were exceptional,” the manager said.

"Mason [Greenwood] is a great finisher. We are just waiting for his season to get started. He is getting fitter. The first goal as well was top quality from Paul Pogba. Concentration, head and knee over the ball. I am so happy for him.

"They put us under pressure. We didn't defend well enough with the ball. They have Soucek, Haller, Rice, you know you have to keep the ball away from them. We got away with a poor performance. Defensively they stuck to the task.

"Sometimes it is margins. Fine margins. Both Chelsea and Arsenal we were unlucky. Tottenham we had 10 men. First game against Palace was a hard one.

“Away from home we have character and belief. Five times on the bounce to come from behind and win is exceptional."
