Solskjaer Rues Manchester United Missed Chances After PSG Defeat

Manchester United were beaten 3-1 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday and head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was left frustrated as he thought his side could have made good use of their chances.

Manchester United’s qualification to the next stage of the competition hangs in a thin air after PSG’s victory at Old Trafford.

Neymar put the Parisians ahead inside the opening six minutes but Manchester United drew level after 32 minutes through the visitors’ bogeyman Marcus Rashford.

Thomas Tuchel’s men restored their lead midway through the game through Marquinhos after a lapse in concentration from the Manchester United defense, before Neymar put the game beyound Solskjaer’s men after meeting Rafinha’s cutback pass during the dying embers of the game.

"It was a very good game which deserved fans. With a bit more clinical finishing we should have finished the game. They were there for the taking [at one stage],” Solskjaer said after the game.

"We had some big chances. The difference when you get to the big games is the clinical moments.

"If Marquinhos had bigger studs on he'd have been offside. It's marginal. You can't really put your finger on the deciding factors."

Manchester United must avoid defeat against RB Leipzig next week in order to secure their place in the next round of the competition.

"We go into a game wanting to win. The games against PSG and Leipzig show how much we've developed in these types of games. It was just about finishing today."
