Scott Parker Slams Lookman Over Failed Panenka Penalty Against West Ham

Fulham manager Scott Parker was left disappointed after Ademola Lookman missed a late penalty in a 1-0 defeat to West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday.

A game which was heading for 0-0 draw sprung into life in stoppage time after West Ham took the lead in the 91st minute through Tomas Soucek but Fulham were given a lifeline to salvage a point in the eighth minute of added time when VAR awarded Parker’s side a penalty.

But Lookman, on a season-long loan from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, fluffed his lines by sending a tame panenka-style penalty straight into the arms of Lukasz Fabianski in the West Ham goal with what was virtually the last kick of the game.

Parker did not mince words in his post-match analysis of Lookman’s miss as Fulham lost their sixth game in eight attempts.

"I'm disappointed and angry," Parker told BBC's Match of the Day. "You can't take penalties like that and he knows that. He's a young player and he's learning.

"The boy has made a mistake. Ade is the first to understand that. When you're young and you're learning you have to learn quick. He is disappointed and rightly so. This is part and parcel of football, of growing as players and as a team. We'll get around him now.

"Ade has been fantastic since he's been in. He'll need to dust himself down. When you're young you make mistakes."
