Real Madrid Duo Hazard and Casemiro Test Positive For Coronavirus

Eden Hazard and Casemiro are both set for spells on the sidelines after Real Madrid announced they have tested positive for coronavirus.

The news will come as a frustrating one particularly for Hazard, who had just returned to the Real Madrid set up after missing the start of the season through injury.

Hazard made his first appearance of the season against Borussia Monchengladbach in the UEFA Champions League last week and followed that up with a goal in Los Blancos’ La Liga win over Huesca at the Alfredo Di Stefano last Saturday. He made the starting eleven once again as Real Madrid defeated Inter Milan 3-2 in Europe on Tuesday.

Casemiro has featured 10 times already for Zinedine Zidane’s men, scoring once and providing one assist.

'Real Madrid C. F. would like to inform that our players Casemiro and Eden Hazard have tested positive in the Covid-19 tests carried out yesterday, Friday morning,' a club statement read.

'All the other players and the technical staff from the first team, as well as all the employees of the club who work directly with them, tested negative in that same test.

'The club would like to confirm once again that everyone, with the exception of Casemiro and Hazard, tested negative in the antigen tests carried out that same morning.'

Hazard and Casemiro will both miss Sunday’s trip to Valencia, and they will also be unavailable for their respective national teams in the upcoming international break.
