The 32-year-old former Germany international was also omitted from the Gunners squad participating in the group stages of the Europa League this year.
Ozil is yet to feature for Arsenal this season despite being the club’s highest earner on £350,000 a week.
The former Real Madrid and Werder Bremen playmaker was a regular when Mikel Arteta took over as manager last December but has not played for the club since March.
Ozil still has eight months left on his contract and Arteta recently indicated that it will be difficult for the world cup winner to force his way into his plans.
Ozil’s chances of playing football this season have thus been restricted to the Carabao Cup and FA Cup competitions.
Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has also not been named in the squad.
