Redknapp Explains Why Liverpool Should Sign Sancho

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has encouraged the Reds to sign Dortmund wonderkid Jadon Sancho despite admitting that the English side does not need his services.

Sancho had been flirting with a move back to England before the closure of the summer transfer window. Manchester United were said to be in pole position to sign the England international but failed to poach him as Dortmund refused to lower their asking price.

The Red Devils are mulling over going back to Dortmund to try signing Sancho in January and Redknapp, who admitted that Sancho should not be a priority signing for Liverpool, has urged his former club to stage a coup and bring the Manchester City academy graduate to Anfield.

“Look, Jadon Sancho is a superb talent, and obviously, Liverpool would take him,” Redknapp told Paddy Power.

“But right now, if you’re playing him on that right side, he’s not a better player than Mo Salah. He’s also not a better player than Sadio Mane.”

“He makes goals, he brings something completely different to what Liverpool are trying to do, and if you want to keep improving and getting better, then of course you’d want him in your team.”

“You could stop him going to Man United as well, even better.”

“But right now, if Sancho came to Anfield, would he get in the team? I don’t personally think so.”
