Zidane Had No Problem With ‘Spectacular’ Bale

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has insisted he had no problems with Gareth Bale following the Wales superstar’s move back to the Premier League.

Zidane has labeled the 31-year-old as ‘spectacular’ and has hailed his achievements with Los Blancos throughout his seven-year stay in Madrid.

Bale has returned to North London for an emotional reunion with Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Southampton man had been cast aside since Zidane returned as Real Madrid manager last year.

He was limited to only 20 matches in all competitions for Real Madrid during the 2019/2020 season and there was a purported discord between the Welshman and the French coach. Many have blamed Zidane for forcing Bale out of Santiago Bernabeu.

Ahead of Real Madrid’s opening game of the season against Real Sociedad at Anoeta, Zidane has defended those claims and wished Bale well in his future adventure.

“I’m not annoyed that people are blaming me for his departure because it’s not like that,” said the Zidane during a press conference on Saturday as quoted on Marca. “The matter is more complicated than that.

“What I can say is that we didn’t have any problems between us.

“No one is going to take away what he’s done at Real Madrid. We didn’t have any problems, it wasn’t like that. I wish him the best. I haven’t spoken to him.”

“Bale has been spectacular,” continued Zidane.

“What he’s done here has been phenomenal – you can’t dispute that because he’s won a lot and shown his quality.”
