Buffon Rejoins Juventus From PSG

Gianluigi Buffon has rejoined Juventus after spending just one season in the Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain in a deal reported to worth €1.5 million plus bonuses.

The former Italian national team goalkeeper is back to the side that made him enjoyed the most successful years in club football.

Despite winning a lot of glories in the domain, the 41-year-old shot-stopper still awaits his maiden Champions League success, a feat he failed to achieve in his time with PSG.

But Buffon will be excited to win it this time around with Juventus.

According to a report in Italy, new manager, Maurizio Sarri wanted the presence of the legendary custodian in the Juventus dressing room because of his experiences and leadership qualities which he thinks will help the younger players in the squad to grow.

Eventhough the former Parma legend is not looking to be the first choice goalkeeper for the eight-time Serie A champions, but could render his services whenever the needs arise.

Buffon made 176 appearances for his country making him the most capped footballer than any other European player in history.

Aside winning the 2016 World Cup with Italy, Buffon in his 17-year spell with Juventus won nine Serie A titles and four Italian Cups.

If Buffon is to make just eight Serie A appearances, he will break former AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini’s record of 647 Serie A caps.

Buffon featured just 25 times for the Parc de Princes outfit in all competitions in the 2018/19 season.
