Vidal Backs Barca To Beat Bayern Munich

Chile and Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal is of the opinion that his team-mates will beat Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Friday night to reach the Champions League semi-final.

Barcelona prepare to take on Die Roten for the first time since 2014/2015, when the Spaniards knocked Bayern out of the semi-final of the Champions League.

Vidal has sent a warning to his former side Bayern Munich to expect a tougher test than usual when they come up against the Catalans.

"[Friday] is the most important game of the season," the former Juventus man said in his pre-match press conference.

"We're really hoping to go through. Bayern come into it off the back of a spectacular season - they're cup and Bundesliga champions.”

"We know that it'll be difficult, but it'll be a great game. If we do what we have to do, we'll go through. It'll be a tight game."

Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has predicted that the Bavarians will eliminate Barcelona as he sees them as the clear favourites but Vidal has quashed those claims, insisting Bayern will face a daunting task when they come up against the La Liga side.

"I haven't paid much attention [to the comments] because I know the people at Bayern and what they say off the pitch isn't what the players think," he added.

"They're confident but they should know that they won't be playing against a Bundesliga team [on Friday].
