Mourinho Blames Fatigue For Bournemouth Draw

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose
Mourinho says fatigue was to blame after his side were held to a goalless draw by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday evening.

The Londoners were kept at bay on the South Coast and had VAR to thank for ruling out Callum Wilson's last-gasp strike.

Mourinho insisted that some of his players were tired during the game and he sarcastically gave credit to Bournemouth for their defensive style.

“I prefer to say the team understood it was more intense from the way they were playing, with certain levels of fatigue clearly for some players, like Moussa Sissoko and Giovani Lo Celso,” the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager told Sky Sports after the game

"I feel I got enough desire and they couldn’t give more.”

“For me it wasn’t a surprise but there’s always a negative mentality when you have a huge penalty decision against you."

He added: "Credit to Bournemouth. I was a bit surprised because I thought they wanted to win the game and I was surprised they just wanted a point - but maybe they did their maths and I think a point gives them a chance.”

“The relegation fight I believe is one of the worst emotional fights to have because it affects everyone."

Tottenham sit ninth on the Premier League table with 49 points after 34 games.

Next up for Spurs is a league game at home against their bitterest rivals Arsenal.
