'It’s Not A Good Result’- Ancelotti Laments After Southampton Draw

Everton head coach Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his disappointment after his side’s 1-1 draw against Southampton at Goodison Park on Thursday evening.

James Ward-Prowse missed a golden opportunity from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Andre Gomes, but the visitors took the lead after 31 minutes through Danny Ings.

Everton were second best throughout the first-half but Richarlison scored against the run of play on the cusp of halftime.

Ancelotti made a tactical tweak after the break to contain Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men, but could do less to help his side snatch the maximum points.

In an interview with Amazon Prime after the game, the Italian coach admitted his side’s display was not good enough and insists he is disappointed with the result.

"The first half we did not deserve to draw, we changed in the second half and it was quite better. The first half was difficult,” Ancelotti said.

"Of course I am disappointed about the first half, we left a lot of space in between our line and we were not in good control. Better in the second half, but not enough.”

"Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin work a lot, Richarlison scored a fantastic goal but we could not play offensively with continuity.”

"It is not a good result but we have to keep fighting for the four games.

“We have to get great results, it will not be easy but we have to try."

With four games to go in the season, The Toffees are 11th on the Premier League table with 45 points.
