Lewandowski Wants Bayern Munich To Transfer Domestic Form To Europe

Robert Lewandowski wants Bayern Munich to replicate their domestic dominance in Europe after sealing an eighth straight Bundesliga title with victory over Werder Bremen on Tuesday.

Lewandowski’s 31st league goal of the season, two minutes to half time earned Bayern a 1-0 away win, taking the Bavarians ten points clear of second placed Borussia Dortmund with two games remaining.

Hansi Flick’s men can now turn their attentions towards the DFB-Pokal final against Bayer Leverkusen on July 4 and the Champions League, where they hold a 3-0 advantage over Chelsea in the round of 16 stage with the second leg yet to be played.

Bayern have not won Europe’s premier club competition since overcoming Dortmund in the 2013 final at Wembley, and Lewandowski reckons it is time to assert their authority on the continent.

"We are German champions. Of course it is a bit complicated without celebrating fans. That certain extra, this passion is missing," the striker said, via the club's website.

"We are still very satisfied. It was not an easy season, we fought for the title for a long time. I hope that we can celebrate with the fans in the stadium soon.

"Werder played a little more defensively but well in the first half. In the second half we should have scored a goal, then it would have been a little easier.

"We showed that we are the best team in Germany and we want to play even better in the Champions League."

Bayern will host Freiburg on Saturday before wrapping up the Bundesliga campaign with a trip to Wolfsburg a week later.
