Ex-Gunner Fears Arsenal Could Lose Aubameyang In The Summer

England and Arsenal icon Tony Adams fears Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave the Emirates Stadium this summer due to contract issues.

England and Arsenal icon Tony Adams fears Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave the Emirates Stadium this summer due to contract issues.

Adams believes the current Arsenal transfer policy is disordered and that will prevent them from challenging for the Premier League title.

Aubameyang signed for the Premier League club for a then-club-record fee reported to be £56 million in January 2018, and quickly established himself as one of the best players in England.

The Gunners currently sit ninth on the Premier League table and Arsenal would have been in a relegation scrap without Aubameyang's goals.

The Gabon International has scored 17 Premier League goals this season - 45.6 per cent of the North Londoners’ total.

Aubameyang's future at Arsenal looks less than certain, with just a year remaining on his current deal.

Adams thinks that is the sort of deal that has become all too common at Arsenal and believes the former AC Milan man will be heading out very soon.

"Quite possibly, he could walk out the door,” the 53-year-old told Sky Sports.

"I loved [former manager] Arsene Wenger's principles, that no player was bigger than the club, and he moved players on if it made sense for the club financially.”

"He was strong with that and he got Champions League football every year but it did stand in the way of recruitment - so we have become a club that is selling the best players.”

"If I was a coach I'd be saying 'don't sell Aubameyang at any price, we need to recruit, bring players through the academy and keep our best players'.

Adams is considered as one of the best defenders of his time and he won four league titles (Premier League twice) during his time at Arsenal.
