The Spanish government recently directed La Liga to isolate fans from the various stadia across the country, a decision which has forced the next two matchdays in the country's top two divisions to be held behind closed doors.
The rapid spread of the virus has forced other top European leagues to also play matches behind closed doors.
The Champions League, Bundesliga, among others will be played behind closed doors, with Italy suspending its sporting activities until April 3.
Tebas said La Liga will conform to the government’s ruling if there is the need to halt the league.
“Professional football is not stopping because the government has considered it sufficient to play behind closed doors," the 57-year-old said.
“If the government had considered it necessary to suspend the championship, they would have said so."
“The Spanish government and the autonomous communities are the guarantors of the fans' and players' health in cases like these.
"If the government says that the competition must be suspended, it will be suspended."
The Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) have asked for the suspension of La Liga, a decision which is yet to be considered.
