Arteta Satisfied With Arsenal’s Progress Since Taking Charge

Mikel Arteta has revealed that Arsenal are making progress since he took over as manager at the Emirates Stadium in November.

Arteta was drafted in to replace Unai Emery, after a poor run of form which saw the Gunners winless in their last seven games in all competitions.

Arsenal have lost just one game in their last nine matches ever since the Spanish coach took over, although only three have been wins.

The North Londoners currently sit tenth on the Premier League table and are 10 points off Chelsea, who occupy the fourth position.

Despite a torrid time in his young coaching career, Arteta admitted he is satisfied with his team’s current output.

"Progress has been quicker than I expected," the 37-year-old told reporters ahead of Arsenal’s league game against Newcastle United on Sunday.

"I've found out things I didn't know when I joined and have had to address. We haven't won [many] games but I have a clear picture of why not. There are many factors to that.”

"We've got to start winning quickly. The next two or three weeks will dictate where we are in the last four or five weeks to challenge for Europe."

He added: "We agreed on some targets, we've started to work on them, and hopefully you'll start to see the outcome in the next few weeks.”

"The players know how crucial the next three or four weeks will be for aims until the end of the season."
