Kroos Drops Retirement Hint That He Couldn’t Play Until 38

Germany and Real Madrid central midfielder Toni Kroos has revealed he might be hanging up his boots very soon.

Kroos, who turned 30 in January, came through the ranks at Bayern Munich before making his senior debut in September 2007.

The German established himself as one of the most important players at Allianz Arena after a successful loan experience with Bayer Leverkusen in 2009.

Having won every available trophy with Bayern Munich, Kroos joined La Liga outfit Real Madrid in a fee around €30 million on July 17, 2014.

Kroos has since won 12 trophies with Los Blancos which includes three Champions League, four Club World Cup, and one La Liga title.

Speaking with Sportschau Club, the 2014 World Cup Winner has admitted he doesn't see himself playing football for years and years to come.

“I’m 30 years old and it’s a good age to think – what more do I want?” he said.

“[My career] won’t last much longer, I’m sure that I won’t play until I’m 38.”

“I’ve been here for more than five years and we’re very happy here,” he said.

“Our children go to school here and they’re also very happy, in the end, they will make the decision.”

Despite the thought of retirement, Kroos insisted he still wants to win many more trophies at Madrid.

“The feeling of winning a trophy is addictive. It’s why I’m still playing,” he added.

“The best example was the Champions League, it wasn’t normal to win it three times in a row.

“It was at this moment when we realised the hunger that we had inside our team.”

“This hunger is coming back this season, without knowing where it will take us.”
