Wolves Boss Happy Despite Liverpool Loss

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo said he is delighted with his team’s performance despite a 2-1 defeat against runaway league leaders Liverpool.

The Wanderers went down in the first ten minutes, when Jordan Henderson headed home from a corner-kick.

Raul Jimenez got the equalizer just six minutes after the break and Wolves could have gone on to win the game.

Santo was satisfied with his men’s display against a team that are undefeated in the league for more than a year.

"It was a very good performance,” the former Rio Ave and Valencia manager told BT Sports.

“Defensively we were organised and we played good. We created chances and the momentum was there but we faced a very good team. I am very happy with the boys. Small margins.”

"It says we want to compete and improve. What was missing today we have to search for next week so we can compete better."

Adama Traore set up Jimenez for the equalizer and was a thorn in Liverpool’s flesh throughout the game.

The Portuguese coach was quick to laud a player who has provided Wolves’ forward propulsion with his innate skill and industry this season.

"He is unique. He has stuff that nobody else has. And talent. There is a lot of space to grow."

Next up for the West Midlands-based team is a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the Premier League on February 1.
