A full-strength Everton side could not take advantage of playing against the Liverpool team who had no Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino among others missing.
Curtis Jones’ second half goal was enough to hand Carlo Ancelotti his second defeat since taking over as the manager of Everton.
Speaking to the media after the game, the former Borussia Dortmund manager said his young Liverpool team were brave in the way they played against the visitors.
"They played brave football. Unbelievable individual performances from the kids and the adults as well,” the 52-year-old said.
"Adam Lallana - what a game, unbelievable. Joe Gomez - organising the whole defence for maybe the first time in his life.”
"Sensational game and a sensational goal from a Scouser - who could ask for more? You cannot perform like the boys performed if you think you should not perform in that team.”

This defeat means Everton are still winless at Anfield since Kevin Campbell’s lone strike secured victory against Liverpool in 1999.
