Soler Signs New Valencia Deal Until 2023

Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler has put pen-to-paper on a new contract that will run to 2023 with a €150m release clause.

The 22-year-old is having a good week, having scored in Valencia’s 1-1 draw against Real Madrid on Sunday.

The Spaniard seems to have gained his rhythm after missing many matches this season due to an ankle injury.

Soler’s previous contract at the Mestalla was due to expire in 2021 with a release clause of €80m.

“I'm very happy and very pleased. It's something that I've always wanted, to continue here at my boyhood club,” the Spain U-21 international said shortly after the extension was confirmed.

“Both parties wanted me to continue here at every stage during the negotiations.”

“I wanted to stay here and Valencia CF pushed hard for me. It's finally been made official now, but we'd been in talks for a while.”

“It was simple for both parties, because we both wanted to continue together.”

“Valencia CF are a top European side, and I think that we have to value this sporting project,” he added.

“For a player, it's very important to be at one of the best clubs in Europe.”

“We're amongst the top 16 clubs, because we've just got through to the last 16 of the Champions League, and in the end what a player wants is to compete at the highest level all the time, playing in the biggest competitions in the world.”

“I think that, right now, there is no better club than Valencia CF at which to do it.”

Soler made his first team debut in a 3-2 defeat against Real Sociedad in December 2016 and has made more than 100 appearances for his boyhood club since.

The youngster became the ninth-youngest player in Valencia’s history to bring up his century of appearances for the club.
