The 22-year old is enjoying life under Juventus’ new head coach Maurizio Sarri, having played eleven league matches for the Serie A champions this season.
The Uruguay international is yet to score in Serie A for the Bianconeri this season, although he has three assists to his name.
Bentancur has admitted that he has to improve as both Sarri and his former manager Massimiliano Allegri have outlined what is needed from him.
“I must improve on that. Allegri and Sarri have both said the same thing: to become one of the best you need to score more,” the Uruguayan said, according to Football Italia.
“The other day I spoke with the coach [Sarri] and he said to me that I can become one of the best midfielders in the world.”
Bentancur then revealed the players who inspired him to play football when he was young and also talked about his relationship with Juventus team-mate Miralem Pjanic.
“When I was little I was inspired by Lampard and Gerrard, then in the role of regista I always liked [Sergio] Busquets, what a great player,” he added.
“Now I have the fortune to play with [Miralem] Pjanic, who is incredible. He is a friend who I try to learn something from every day.”
Bentancur has played more than 60 league matches since joining Juventus from boyhood club Boca Juniors in 2017 as part of the deal that took Carlos Tevez the other way.
