Werder Bremen Approve Ferencvaros Loan Move For Ostracised Naby Keita

Keita had been suspended by Werder Bremen since April after he reportedly refused to travel to an away game at Bayer Leverkusen after learning he wouldn't start the match.

Werder Bremen went on to lose the game 5-0, sealing Leverkusen's first ever Bundesliga title.

Keita joined Werder Bremen from Liverpool last summer on a free transfer but made just five league appearances before his suspension.

The 29-year-old Guinea international will now the get chance to restart his career in January, with Ferencvaros having the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

"We are pleased to have found a solution, together with Naby and his agent," said Clemens Fritz, Werder Bremen managing director for sport.

"For us, it was clear that Naby would not play for Werder again. As such, the loan deal is the right move both for us and for him. We wish Naby all the best in Hungary."

Keita has a contract with Bremen until the summer of 2026.

Keita spent five seasons at Liverpool and helped the Reds win the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup.
