Arteta Lauds Arsenal After Beating Leeds In Carabao Cup

Arsenal progressed to the quarter-final stage of the Carabao Cup after beating Leeds United 2-0 on Tuesday night and head coach Mikel Arteta was satisfied with his men’s display.

The Spanish tactician says it was a good performance against a demanding side of Marcelo Bielsa.

Arsenal put up a stellar display in the second half to book a place in the last eight of the competition at the expense of the Peacocks.

The visitors were the better side in the first half but both teams had to settle for a 0-0 scoreline at halftime.

The Gunners wanted it more and went all out to secure an emphatic victory thanks to goals from Calum Chambers and Eddie Nketiah on 55 and 69 minutes respectively.

"I think a really good performance overall against a team whose manager demands them to be so committed in every single action. We played well and understood the game and executed it in the right way,” Arteta said after the game.

"They gave us some issues, they always do, because every time you lose a duel you can be one vs one, the way they play! We adjusted a few things at half-time and we got better and stronger."

Arteta’s counterpart Bielsa rued his side’s missed chances in the first half that came back to haunt them.

"The first half we had an intensity that we couldn't continue in the second half,” Bielsa said.

"When you miss chances, it always gives the feeling to the opponent that they can alter the result themselves."
