Wenger Doesn’t Feel ‘Confident’ For Germany Ahead Of Euros

Former Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has admitted he is not confident that Germany can win Euro 2020.

Wenger believes Die Mannschaft have ‘lost belief’ and cannot contend for the crown in the upcoming European tournament.

Germany is always considered as a force to reckon with in every tournament but their relevance has somewhat diminished since their World Cup triumph in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Joachim Low’s men have not quite been their usual selves in recent years as they have endured subpar performances in different tournaments.

Germany were knocked out in the semi-final by France in the 2016 Euros and could not make it out of their group in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Their misery continued in the maiden edition of the UEFA Nations League and its second edition.

Wenger has insisted he does not view Germany as serious challengers in what is meant to be Low’s final tournament with his nation.

“Honestly, I’m not very confident for Germany. They have lost the belief,” said the 71-year-old Frenchman.

“The Germans, to be successful you need in the team a combination of hunger, belief, aggression, and that you’re capable to fight the doubt. I believe in Germany belief has gone.

“Another hurdle is that it will be the last tournament Joachim manages. To be completely honest, I have not seen a team do well when the players know that the manager will not be there anymore after the tournament.”
