Tottenham Hotspur Warned Not to Appoint Sarri

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has warned Tottenham Hotspur against the possible appointment of Maurizio Sarri.

Redknapp believes the Italian coach’s style would not be liked by the fans of the North Londoners.

Jose Mourinho was relieved of his duties last week and Spurs are in search for a new head coach to occupy the vacant managerial role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The English side have been linked with Sarri, who is currently out of work since his adventure in Turin with Juventus came to an end last summer.

Sarri was introduced to English football by Chelsea before the 2018/2019 season to replace compatriot Antonio Conte.

The former Napoli man’s time in England was not that rosy as he was frequently criticized by the fans and media due to his style of play.

A return to England could be on the cards as he has been linked with Spurs, but Redknapp says Daniel Levy should not appoint the former Empoli coach.

“Maurizio Sarri will not excite the Spurs fans one bit, not one bit,” Redknapp told Sky Sports after Tottenham’s defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

“You’d imagine Julian Nagelsmann will go and take the Bayern Munich job. Nuno Espirito Santo – does that excite me? Not sure.

“Scott Parker looks like he might be going down with Fulham, but has history with Tottenham. Rafa Benitez? No. Brendan Rodgers, would you leave Leicester now, where you have established something?”
