Juventus Reaffirm Desire To Retain Pirlo As Manager

Juventus’ managing director Fabio Paratici says the Italian champions have no desire to part company with head coach Andrea Pirlo.

Pirlo has come under pressure in recent weeks after Juventus bowed out of the UEFA Champions League at the round of 16 stage at the hands of FC Porto.

The Bianconeri also fell 10 points behind leaders Inter Milan in the race for the Serie A title over the weekend after a shock 1-0 home defeat to struggling Benevento.

Comparatively Pirlo has fared the worst among Juventus’ recent managers; Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri, who all led the club to Serie A titles, but Paratici insists the former Italy international will continue to remain at the helm at the Allianz Stadium.

'We have a project that we started from last season, one game will not change our views or our strategy,' Paratici told Sky Sport Italia.

'This line continues and we are very happy with what we've done, so we'll continue working to improve.'

'We were not unsatisfied with the previous coaches, but there were different reasons why we decided to change,' he explained.

'Just as a defeat won't change the project of a club, a victory won't either. Once an approach has been decided on, we see it through.

'I don't believe the word 'transitional' exists at Juventus. We play every game aiming to win, some go better than others, but transition isn't an issue here. Every year is important, even when it doesn't necessarily have the same results as in the past.'
