Klopp Cajoles Liverpool To Keep Fighting Amid Poor Form

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has urged his men to keep fighting in order to arrest their poor form after a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea in the Premier League on Thursday night.

Klopp believes his men must work hard if they want to get back to their brilliant best.

The Blues dominated Liverpool from the start to finish and could have scored more if not for their own profligacy.

Mason Mount’s first half goal was enough to inflict Liverpool’s eighth league defeat of the season.

The English champions have not won a Premier League game at Anfield since a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in December; a run of seven and have lost their last five games at home in the process.

Speaking to the media after the game, Klopp reflected on his side’s defeat and insists he believes the Reds will weather the storm and start winning again.

“You saw the game, it was a tight one, it was a close one, it was an intense one. We forced them to make mistakes, they forced us to make mistakes. They used one, we didn't use ours,” Klopp said.

"Against Chelsea it would be surprising to play them off the pitch but we were in the game. It is just annoying to talk about the same things again and again. It is tough. We have to fight through this.

"With the individual skills of Mason it was an easy goal. We should have defended it better. In these games you don't create 20 chances, you have to use the few you have.

"These things make the difference. To get back to where you get these moments you have to work, be stubborn and fight hard. We will get there again because it is still in the boys."

Liverpool now sit seventh on the Premier League table with 43 points.
