Alisson On The Brink Of Liverpool Return

Alisson On The Brink Of Liverpool Return

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has revealed he is close to making a return to first team action.

The 26-year-old Brazilian was injured in Liverpool’s opening Premier League game of the season against Norwich City on August 9 as he attempted a goal kick in the first half.

His place in the Liverpool line up has since been taken by summer signing Adrian, who made a quicker than expected debut and has fairly impressed in the role so far.

Liverpool have stormed to the top of the Premier League table in Alisson’s absence, leading champions Manchester City by five points after six round of fixtures.

The former AS Roma goalkeeper, who was awarded the FIFA Men’s goalkeeper of the year on Monday, has now provided an update on his current condition on Liverpool’s official website.

"I'm in a good way, I think we are nearly there," Alisson said.

"I can go outside to the pitch to do some goalkeeper work and I feel very well.

"I feel confident and I think now it's just about getting all my power, all my confidence to come back and do what I love to do."

"It's massive because if I look back, two weeks ago I couldn't even walk properly."

"Now I'm running [and] jumping on my right leg that was injured, so I'm really happy for that.

"It's great. When you are a player you want to have the contact with the ball, with the guys on the pitch, the routine of training. It's what I love to do."

Liverpool travel to MK Dons in the third round of the Carabao Cup later on Wednesday.
