Ex-Man City Forward Tips Foden To Win Ballon D’Or In Future

Former England and Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair has insisted that Phil Foden has what it takes to lift the Ballon d’Or in the near future.

Foden is gradually garnering attention from football personalities and fans following his remarkable performances under Pep Guardiola this season.

The 20-year-old put up a man-of-the-match performance against champions Liverpool last weekend which got people like Gary Neville, Wayne Rooney, John Terry and Barcelona icon Carles Puyol talking.

Sinclair believes Foden will one day win the most coveted individual award in football but first, the England international must put his feet on the ground and keep improving.

“I actually believe he can be [good enough to win the Ballon d’Or] if he keeps his feet on the ground and keeps working tirelessly as he is,” the 47-year-old told talkSPORT

“I think he’s already in the conversation for Young Player of the Year in the Premier League and possibly even overall Player of the Year he’s been that good and that consistent.

“I don’t think a lot of people realise how quick he is as well. Not just when sprinting but moving with the ball and his unbelievable balance on both sides.

“I think Pep has come out and said many times he’s got an eye for goal, he’s seen that potential in him. Listen, he’s 20-year-old and we’re talking about him being a candidate for the Ballon d’Or, it speaks volumes of the boy.”

Foden has scored ten goals and provided six assists for Manchester City in all competitions so far this season.
