Sheffield United Must Keep Fighting, Says Wilder After West Brom Victory

Sheffield United came out victorious against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Tuesday and Chris Wilder, who was delighted with his side’s 2-1 victory, has insisted the Blades should keep fighting in order to survive.

Wilder’s men went 17 games without winning in the Premier League, leaving them bottom on the league log, but have now won three out of their last five games to hand them the chance of fighting for survival.

Speaking to the media after the game, Wilder reacted to his side’s important victory and insists his men are doing everything to stay in the Premier League.

"We needed a big second half performance. We huffed and puffed in the first half,” Wilder said.

“It's a really disappointing one from our point of view [conceding the first goal]. The second half was a lot better. We were on the front foot and driving the opponents back.

"It was always not going to be a free-flowing game with the two teams in the situations they are in. We were just a bit slow in the first half.

“I thought we were okay without really dominating or creating many clear-cut chances. We just had to let ourselves go a little bit which we did in the second half. We were more ambitious.

"It was always going to be a tough game. They had nothing to lose. It's always going to go to the end. It was a tight game and a nervy end. We are delighted to get a result. We just keep moving on."

"We have to keep going. We need to play in the manner we did in the second half. Just because we have won a couple of games recently, it's the Premier League and it hurts you. I have a group that are alive and kicking and fighting for their lives."
