Ribery Completes Move To Fiorentina

Former Bayern Munich forward Franck Ribery has joined Italian Serie A club Fiorentina on a free transfer.

The 36-year-old, whose stint with Bayern Munich came to an end after the 2018/19 season has now signed a two-year deal with La Viola reportedly worth £3.6 million a year with a potential £450,000 in bonuses.

"I have already talked to the people of Fiorentina, I have also spoken with [former Fiorentina and Bayern striker] Luca Toni.

"He told me that Fiorentina is a great club, that even the city is beautiful. I'm happy, I also like the Italian language."

The versatile winger will be officially unveiled on Thursday evening after a press conference.

Spending 12 years at Bayern Munich, Ribery won nine Bundesliga titles, six German Cups and the Champions League in 2013.

After enjoying an impressive season in 2013, the pacey winger came third in the Ballon d’Or race in the said year.

Featuring 81 times for France, the former Marseille midfielder scored 16 international goals.

Ribery becomes Fiorentina’s seventh summer signing following the arrivals of Erick Pulgar, Kelvin Prince Boateng, among others.

With Vincenzo Montella's squad finishing 16th in the Serie A last term, and entering into their 82nd season in the Italian top-flight, the side expect to do better this time around after the signings of experienced players this summer.

Fiorentina will host Napoli at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in their season opener with Ribery expected to be in action against his former manager Carlo Ancelotti on Saturday.
