Origi Keen To Continue Development At Liverpool

Liverpool forward Divock Origi says he sees signs of improvement in his game and is not thinking of a move away from Anfield despite limited playing time.

Origi continues to play second fiddle to Liverpool’s devastating attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino despite producing numerous match-winning moments last season.

The Belgium international endeared himself to the Liverpool fans en route to their UEFA Champions League triumph in Madrid last summer, scoring twice in the 4-0 win over Barcelona in the semi-final second leg at Anfield before netting the insurance goal in the final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Origi signed a new long-term contract last July, indicating his desire to remain with Jurgen Klopp’s men for a long time.

The 25-year-old contributed three goals in 22 games to help Liverpool open up a 25-point gap at the top of the English Premier League table before the season was suspended because of the global Coronavirus pandemic.

"I am a better player than last year," the 25-year-old forward told Het Laatste Nieuws. "Klopp has given me the space to develop myself.

"I always listen to my instinct and continue to work. We have spoken with Liverpool and we have a nice course ahead of us. I just want to get better here.

"It is a project for me and I want to follow it. I don't know how long I will do that. I feel that I am making progress, so it was a pity that the season stopped [due to coronavirus]."
