Roy Keane: Man United Still Far Behind Man City and Liverpool

Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes his former side are far behind their rivals Liverpool and Manchester City despite their upturn in form.

Liverpool and Manchester City are undoubtedly the two best teams in England at the moment, as the current Premier League table shows.

Both teams amassed 195 points during the 2018-2019 season- a top-flight record for the champions and runners-up.

Despite missing out on the league title to Manchester City last season, Jurgen Klopp’s men won the Champions League in Madrid against Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United looked to have turn a corner before the season was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, as they were unbeaten in their last eleven games in all competitions.

Keane has insisted that the Red Devils have been good recently but admits there is still a long way to go in catching Liverpool and Manchester City.

“I think there’s certainly a feel-good factor back at United over the past number of games,” the former Republic of Ireland international told Sky Sports.

“Also, in the back of your mind, you’re thinking if Pogba can get back, people like Rashford can get fit towards the end of the season, that would be a big boost for them.”

“But there’s still a long way back for United yet.”

“I still think they’re a long way behind City and, obviously, Liverpool.”

“The signs are a lot better than six months ago, 12 months ago. The signings have all settled in very, very well, and will only get better with time.”
