Sterling Hopeful For A New Challenge Abroad

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has revealed a time will come when he will seek a new challenge outside England.

The pacey winger has spent four years at the Etihad stadium since leaving Liverpool in 2015 but has stressed he would like to challenge himself outside the shores of England at some point in his career.

“Looking at it now it's like, Manchester, I love it. I love it here," he told British GQ. "This is one of the best clubs in the world and I'm here for the long haul.

"But you just don't know what happens in the future. I'm still young and, like I say, I am loving every minute.

"Ever since I was a kid, 100 per cent it's always been a dream of mine to play abroad somewhere. It would be nice one day to finish training and go home and sit in your garden and eat some dinner.

“I would need to see where it's minimum 17°C or 18°C constantly."

Despite Sterling’s desire of a new challenge abroad, the former Liverpool winger ruled out a move to the Bundesliga when asked if playing in Germany would be possible.

"Not really - the language barrier. It sounds very difficult [to learn].

"I hear Leroy [Sane] and Ilkay [Gundogan] talking and sometimes I think they're having me on.

"Spanish sounds like... 'Hola! Raheem!' I feel that one I can definitely catch on!"

Sterling in his successful spell at Manchester City has won six major honours including back-to-back league titles in the last two seasons.

The 24-year-old will see his current contract at the club expire in 2023.
